Spring Gourmet & Dessert

SPRING Gourmet & Dessert @ E-Gate

When seeing the name of this restaurant, I thought it is under the same management as The Sun @ Macalister Road (Spring Chamber). After having meal here, then only I realized,"Oh... it's actually Manila Place!"

Very simple interior deco.


Spicy Olio Pasta (RM12.90) - I was surprised when this dish was served. I didn't expect to get myself a dish of 'satisfaction' with al-dente pasta. I know this is called 'Spicy Olio' but I would be more pleased if the spiciness could be less.


Sliced Fish Fillet Congee (RM9.90)
The congee is smooth and suitable for those who like to eat 'cheng-cheng-tei'.

Our birthday lady was impressed with the BIG slices of fish.


What we like about Spring is - it serves a wide variety of tong shui.

Adui! Got improvement in 'Kan Pua' !

砂朥越古晋干捞面 Sarawak Kuching Kan Pua @ 好友餐馆 (Kafe Setia Kawan) , Raja Uda

The ingredients one week before are char siew, vege and wanton.

[One week after] - got additional chicken slices and minced meat (!).
They have also increased their stock and extended the selling hours slightly to before-1pm, or until the ingredients finish.

The stall has been moved from the kitchen (inside the restaurant) to outside, at the corridor.

The wanton is good, no wonder now I can see the stall stating its price [Kan Pua = RM2.80 (small), RM3.30 (big); Wanton (RM3.00/ bowl).]

Got improvement is GOOD! At least I felt it's more worthwhile now.


Ingredients : char siew, vege, wanton, chicken slices, minced meat. Of course, LARD.

Sweet Potato Bun with Cheese Spread

One of my favourite supper meals is this - Sweet potato bun with thick cheese spread!

The sweet potato bun costs RM1.00 from morning market.



I cut into half.
Since I always eat this at night (supper), therefore I steam it so that it becomes soft 'back'.



Apply cheese spread.

Apply thick thick one! Somemore half bun not enough, apply another half! [*替Kraft Cheese Spread免费打广告*第一次]

Nyonya Breeze (Invited Review)

Nyonya Breeze @ Abu Siti Lane (Invited Review)

Nyonya Breeze is located right opposite the Red Rock Commercial Centre @ Abu Siti Lane. A handful of us attended the invited review extended by Nyoya Breeze and arranged by Steven .


The interior deco is pretty simple yet comfortable.



[The rating below is purely based on taste, not considering price]

Nasi Ulam (RM7.00) [My rating : 7/10]
Steamed rice tossed with salted fish, dried prawns, belacan, 'kerisik' and assorted local herbs.
- I personally don't favour nasi ulam that much as it's too dry for me. Luckily the Asam Pedas (soup) came in rescue later on. :)



BUT ..... I appreciate every single effort done by the restaurant in preparation of those ingredients. As we all know, Nasi Ulam requires each ingredient to be cut to its FINEST size.



From front to back : Ginger , Nutmeg, Chrysanthemum
Cold : RM2.20, RM2.20, RM1.40
Hot : RM2.00, RM2.00, RM1.30
The ginger tea is very thick!


Sambal Goreng (S= RM14.40, L= RM19.20) [My rating : 10/10]
Prawns, eggplant and cashew nuts in a savoury, tangy sauce with chillies for garnishing.



By seeing the name of this dish - 'sambal goreng', one would definitely think it's a sambal dish. Nope, it's not. It's fragant with belacan essense and appetizing to go with rice. I have even thought at one time the possibility of making spaghetti with this 'carbonara'-look sauce (!).

砂朥越古晋干捞面 (Kuching Kan Pua)

砂朥越古晋干捞面 Sarawak Kuching Kan Pua @ 好友餐馆 (Kafe Setia Kawan) , Raja Uda

A bunch of my ex-colleagues (breakfast gang) know well that I love Sarawak local dishes, like Kolok Mee, Kan Pua and Sarawak Laksa.

They informed me through sms when they saw the advertisement of this newly opened restaurant at Raja Uda that serves the so-called "Kuching Kan Pua".


It's Sunday late morning ~11am. Since it is not a short journey to travel to Raja Uda, thus I guess we better make a call to confirm.
"Harlo, Hao You?! Today open or not?"
"Ya, we are open."
"Got Kuching Gan1 Lao1 Mian4 mah?"
"Oh, this one ah, wanna finish liao woh."
"Oh, like that ah, then perhaps we come some other days lah."
"You come now lah."
"We are coming from Queensbay here woh."
"You come now lah, I will not disappoint you!" The lady boss said.
"OK!" (After we confirmed on the location, off we went!)

This is the last second bowl served in that morning. The customers who came later than us were not lucky enough.

The differences I detected when it's first served.
1) It's served using bowl instead of plate.
2) Got wanton one(?!)
3) Looks more like 'white version' of wanton mee leh.

Is my tastebud deteriorating or ?!

The last visit during 2007 wasn't a good one.

Human, forget and forgive. I forgot how my last visit was. I tried again the other day at Prangin Mall. The zha jiang mian + drink set has increased from RM8 to RM11+. I personally think that the 'minus-pork' version has made this dish losing its attractiveness.

Shanghai Ding "Yun Nam" Rice Noodle - My favourite!

I love this dish since day one I tried!
The price has been revised from RM16.xx to RM17.80 now. 5% service charge applies.


The presentation may look pretty bland BUT... please don't judge the book by its cover.



Fish slices, ginger slices and wolfberries.



Nowadays the soup tends to be less pepperish compared to last time.

Inaka Group Feast

Inaka @ Pulau Tikus

I have been to this Inaka many times. This time there is a lot different as it's a GROUP of us with cameras on hands.



Left : Shiro Maguro (white tuna) RM22.00. Right : Scallop RM25.00
The waitress was really compromising us, by asking the chef to cut the sashimi into 7 pcs so that each of us got one piece, fair enough. :)

Spiderman Ramen RM15.00 . This is a flavourful dish that everyone likes. It's spicy.
