Rosso Vivo Dine & Lounge

Rosso Vivo @ Kuta, Bali

There are a lot of restaurants and cafes located along the Jalan Pantai Kuta.
One of those that attracted my attention is this one, Rosso Vivo. A classic and elegant style of Italian restaurant.
The Kuta Beach is located right opposite the road.
External compound is equipped with cushioned bamboo sofas.
Complimentary bread and toast, came with a tiny plate of sauce, slight spicy.
Carote e zucca (Pumpkins and carrots soup with fresh basil and cream) (Rp. 55,000 = ~RM19) (more.......)

Naughty Nuri’s Warung Grilled Spare Ribs

Naughty Nuri's Warung & Nacho Mama Grill (for Good Indonesian and Mexican Food) @ Ubud, Bali

After visiting the Ubud Market, there is a place that one must not miss out although it's remote in location. International tourists all come over here to taste its famous signature spare ribs!
The menu is stated on the wall thus you need to stand, read and decide what to order when the waitress comes over to your table.
The whole restaurant is under dim yellowish light.

Spare Ribs (Rp.70,000 = ~RM25) (more........)

Bebek Bengil Dirty Duck Diner

Bebek Bengil @ Ubud, Bali

The restaurant is undergoing renovation at this moment but I could still see the stream of customers flowing in every now and then regardless of the dusty and dirty path at the entrance.
This restaurant covers a large area, renovated under an unique theme and layout.
See? Some of the customers can even lie on the 'floor' , relaxing or taking a nap after eating.

Along this path are dining seatings in open concept, under different roofs. (more........)

Little Italy

Little Italy @ Kuta Square, Kuta-Bali

During the first night at Kuta, we took a stroll at night to explore the streets around Kuta beach. There stood a waiter at the entrance of this Little Italy that handed out pizza which was cut into mouth-piece sizes each, for sampling. I took a bite on the pizza sample.....
"Hmm.....good! What flavour is this?"
"Margherita, this one!" He showed me on the menu.
The result was, I ended up having supper inside this restaurant on the following night. I was impressed by the Italian boss's marketing strategy. :)
Fruit Punch (Rp.35,000 =~RM12). Very nicely mixed. Love it! I could taste the sparkling 7-up!

Melasti Kedonganan Fresh Grilled Seafood

Melasti Kedonganan @ Jimbaran-Kuta-Bali

After travelling to the Tanah Lot, we proceeded to savour fresh grilled seafood at Jalan Pantai Kedonganan.
The seafood restaurants are all located along this whole stretch of beach. You can simply pick one.
The chairs were all set facing the sea. From this view, you can see aircrafts landing at the airport which is opposite this beach. From afar, they really look like 'UFO' floating in the air. :)
Each restaurant has different type of cultural performance. Mostly are traditional dances.
We started off with orange juice & papaya juice (Rp.15,000 each= ~RM5.30 each) after ordering our seafood dishes from the aquarium counter.
Complimentary soup was very salty, forget about it! However, I was impressed by its complimentary vege - kangkung and also the onion mixed sauce. (more........)

Ayam Tulang Lunak Malioboro

Ayam Tulang Lunak Malioboro @ Kuta Bali

We were brought to this so-called "Banyak Malaysian like to come to here for its chicken one" as it is near to the airport, strategically located and convenient enough especially when you are forced to have late lunch due to the AA flight.
Ayam Tulang Lunak is a type of chicken in which you can consume its bone. The chicken is cooked until its bone is 'soft' and fragile.
Menu Ayam Presto
Ayam Presto Madu Wijen (Rp. 60,000 for half bird = ~RM21)
This is honey-marinated.
Ayam Presto Telur Asin (Rp. 60,000 for half bird = ~RM21) (more........)

Seng Thor Kopitiam Wanton Mee

Seng Thor Kopitiam (成都茶室) Wanton Mee @ Lebuh Kimberley

I stumbled upon this Wan Than Mee stall one afternoon while I was hungrily driving around the town running some errands. Since then, I started to miss IT days and nights. :)
It is located at the Seng Thor Kopitiam. Open for afternoon session only (after 11 am to 5pm). The stall owner claimed that his closing days will follow the fried oyster stall.
Small RM2.50, Medium RM3.00, Big RM3.40.
The photos below showing medium size serving + add wanton (total RM3.40 per plate).
I personally felt that the fine noodles (eu mee) here are not as good as the flat noodles (chor mee) below.
From the first visit, I saw a lot of people ordering chor mee (flat noodles) and I did. Ever since then, I have never gone for second option. (more.......)

Traditional English Afternoon Tea of The E & O Hotel

Traditional English Afternoon Tea @ 1885, The E & O Hotel

At 1885, Traditional English Afternoon Tea is served in an elegant setting starting with a selection of very thin sandwiches, like thinly sliced cucumber, smoked salmon and roast beef sandwiches. This is followed by scones with home-made strawberry jam, clotted cream and a selection of cakes.
I have finally made it during the first Sunday of July, with YY company. It was a delightful afternoon tea session after dragging for almost a year. *My goodness!*
The 1885 English Afternoon Tea . The photo above shows serving for two persons.
What surprised me the most is the sweetness level. All the cakes and tea pastries served here are not too sweet, just adequate. If it's at other places, I would have easily turned 'jilak' after consuming a few pieces.
The clotted cream is super fine and soft. Light-weighted, not creamy rich. Strawberry jam is mildly sweetened.
Scones and Finger Sandwiches. (more......)

Restoran Five Stars

Five Stars Restaurant (五星冷气餐厅) @ Lebuhraya Batu Lanchang

它是一间不起眼的餐厅,但它的煮炒菜肴十多年来始终没让我失望过。

Five Stars is a restaurant operating for more than ten years. It has yet to disappoint me even the most recent visit.
Fried potato leaves (Char Huan Tzu Hiok) (RM6)
I was still 'hmm fun hei' over the RM8 plate of fried potato leaves served by Teik Seng two days ago before I came to this FIVE STARS. The fried potato leaves (Char Huan Tzu Hiok) served here is  triple in volume and guess what?! It's priced at RM6 ONLY! MAKAN PUAS-PUAS!  :p

Chee Chai Thng (Assorted Seaweed Soup) (RM7) (more.....)

Hai Onn Hainanese Dishes need Patience

Hai Onn Restaurant (海安饭店)@ Burmah Road

"Why not we go to Hai Onn for zhu char since it's already 11 something?!" I proposed after getting some errands done in the morning.

This is a place that brought me lots of childhood memories.

It's 11.45am.

"What time do you start to serve zhu char?"
"Oh, our kitchen starts to work at about 12 something."
"Alright......" (At that moment, I thought I was queued as the 2nd table...)

Guess what? I have finished reading newspaper and eating the lor bak and still I need to wait for them to serve two other tables who were apparently earlier than me.
One table is an elderly couple whereas another one is a vacant table but 'reserved'.You can see them serving the dishes to that vacant table but covering all up with plates since no one has arrived yet. *Grrrrr...........*

Finally our dishes were served at around 12.55p.m. I pity another uncle who didn't aware of such long waiting time. He came alone and didn't expect that he needed to wait for >45 mins for one person's meal. I heard the taukeh soh explained to him about the 'waiting tradition'.

Nevertheless, those dishes served below immediately swept away my 'anger'.

I love the Hainanese curry fish with pungent lemongrass taste. (more......)

Ah Hor Koay Theow Thng

Ah Hor Koay Theow Thng @ Carnavon Street

Disclaimer : Seriously, this is the KTT that I really hate recommending as they syiok syiok TAK BUKA!  This is somehow related to the example set up by their past generation. I do not want to comment much on their business attitude, just the food will do. :)
Located at the end of Carnavon Street, look out on your right hand side before reaching the road junction. It's easy to detect whether this KTT stall is opened as the parking slots at the road side of this end and the other side lane (which after you make a U-turn) will be mostly occupied.
Stated there RM2.50 (Small), RM3.50 (Big). Additional ingredients to be charged separately.
RM3.50 will be served with lots of ingredients. Do bear in mind to order 'small' if you are not meant  to see this 'big' serving as they tend to automatically serve you with 'BIG' one. Shh~~~!!
Soup base is clear  BUT  it is not consistent (like the day I took this picture, it's not) . Nevertheless it's cheng tee (清甜)until you can easily finish up the whole bowl. (more....)
