Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks

Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks (士林台灣小吃) @ Queensbay

I was not that keen to try it out since its opening at Qbay a few months ago. Why? coz I've tasted a real good one at 阿宗面线 @ 西门町(Ximenting)& also the most famous 豪大大雞排 (XXL Crispy Chicken) @ 士林夜市 (Shi Lin Night Market).

Another reason being I am still having "oyster+taiwan" phobia. The "Lao Sai" experience @ Tainan An Ping Street (台南安平老街) due to undercooked oyster + fresh milk was a nightmare!

Homemade oyster mee sua (RM6.00nett) - I ordered 1x without oyster loh, haha! *don't beat me! *
This one is unlike 阿宗面线 one, coz it doesn't have the 鹵大腸. It already stated there 'Shihlin' style right? :)

Ricebox Set (RM10.00nett) - it comes with tofu & crispy chicken.

The 2nd Flogger Gathering @ Edelweiss Cafe

The 2nd Flogger Gathering was held on 27-Sep-08 @ Edelweiss Cafe, Armenian Street.

I was surprised that the photos turned out to be kinda OK despite of last minute rush of getting hold of the camera which I borrowed from my buddy, Wdy.

The interior deco is ala vintage style with warm ambience.

I especially like these two corners!

Starter : Toasted Roti Benggali with cheese and onions.
Soup : Pumpkin Orange Soup (served with garlic bread).
Dessert : Apple Flan / Ice Cream.
My 3x friends (non-bloggers, Ce, Wdy & YY) and I liked the toasted roti benggali with cheese & onions and also the apple flan/ice cream the most!

The dishes served were (by clockwise):
Smoked Pork Belly
Roast Leg of Lamb (I went and 'stole' a small slice from CK, hehe!)
Gammon Ham
Salmon

There were also other choices like (by clockwise) : German Curry Pork Sausage , BBQ Pork Ribs and smoked pork sausages.

This time by courtesy we have chocolate brownies (by Ah Shui) , strawberry/pineapple tarts (by CK Lam), homemade cookies & goodies by organizer group including Gill & Jason & Lingzie . Also thanks to Criz for his contribution on all our 'lucky draw'items.

It's NICE meeting everyone! :P

I hope to get to know each of you MORE through your blog in future.

Domino's Pizza

Another 'chia chiak' session oi! Domino's Pizza delivered to office!

I have missed a Domino's Pizza session once, therefore this round I MUST not miss again in shooting the photos!:)

Chicken wings

We kept sourcing for the good smell."Oh.....it's from this bread lah!" The BreadStix's fragrance kept lingering in the office. Its smell stayed at your fingers even after a long time. :) This is a thumb's up favourite of many.

Wow...got so many choices oh! They are all crunchy thin crust.

The three pizzas above were finished up faster than the rest! Ha!

See? We used our tong shui bowls to drink our coke! :) See lah how supportive they are in helping me to get some good shots of the food!

Got pineapple one......

BBQ Chicken one....

Total RM148.80. Kam sia, taukeh! :)

I think this Domino's Pizza gonna conquer the FIZ area already since it's fast in delivery and also tastes good!

Ritz Pastry Shop

Recently a lot of free food is distributed. There is non-stop supply of mooncakes, for instance. Some 'wat ppl chia' projects also are successful (!) e.g. the Domino Pizza and the sugar free mooncakes.

To show my appreciation, I purposely drove down to Tanjung Tokong one particular night to get a 'surprise' for them since none of them has ever tasted the Green Tea Cake. FYI they have been watching my screen saver day in day out showing all sorts of my 'Learning 1-2-3 food shooting' practise photos.

Green Tea Cake (green tea with red bean paste)

Bananier (Banana + chocolate)

All of them said," Green Tea one veryyyyyyyyyyyyy good!" :P

Momoyama Fruit Paste Sugar Free Moon Cake by ASTARTE

義美 (台灣無糖水果月餅) @ Queensbay (Ground Floor)

桃山果沙無糖月餅

Also here for one close shot. :)

Clockwise :

聖女蕃茄 (Tomato)
蔓越莓 (Cranberry)
抹茶紅豆 (Greentea Adzuki Bean)
台灣芒果 (Mango (Taiwan) )
台灣百香果 (Passion Fruit (Taiwan Puli) )

Net weight is 48g each. The size is very small oh.

我們終於逮到機會'屈'K 請月餅了 :p 以上統共12 pieces= RM59.80.

Most of us didn't know there was such brand until there's one day SHE kept on humming beside me" Ei, that brand of mooncake ah, very small piece nia leh, but got hello kitty box one oh, very swui one oh! Nah, I show you their brochure here....considered low sugar somemore oh... "

OK lah, OK lah, so we went to buy loh. At the end the so called hello kitty box that she wanted so much also out of stock already. BUT luckily.....she was allowed to claim later by using the receipt.

Update(!) : Here's the box. Not hello kitty box leh. Its design of ribbon is very good! No matter how dumb you are, you can tie a very pretty knot for sure!

Siam Express Set Lunch

Siam Express @ Queensbay, LG.

Last time I was kinda reluctant to try out Siam Express due to badly influenced by those fwd emails.

This time due to the rest of the nearby restaurants were all very packed, "OK lah! Sat lah!". After all, we desperately needed a FAST meal so that we got enough time to grab along our mooncakes.

Within 15 mins our dishes were served. :) *BIG GRIN*

Phad Thai Noodle (RM13.90+) - Oh no.... got to leave behind the raw beansprout odi.

Belacan Rice Set (RM16.90+)

Tomyam Soup (which came as part of the set)

Tomyam Rice Set (RM17.90+)

Cappuccino (RM5.00+)

The ala carte and set meals were all kinda OK despite the price charged. Everyone finished with satisfaction.

Annabelle's Place

Annabelle's Place @ Lembah Permai, Tanjung Bungah

I believe ladies will appreciate this place more than you gentlemen out there. :)

I have finally come to this Annabelle's Place after getting the direction from Lingzie's post.

"Wah...I like the deco!" uttered from the bottom of my heart once I stepped into the restaurant.

"This corner got 'little-cottage' feel uh?!"

"This angle looks like 'winter-warmer' uh?!"

It may look alike but trust me, its food is at a more affordable price compared to them.

They have pretty lotsa collections from Great Britain or Europe, I suppose?! This is one of them.

One of the seats near the sunlight

Ocean Treasures (RM16.90) - baked crab in creamy mushroom sauce, served with fresh garden salad & hash browns. [I believe this portion is acceptable even for a person who doesn't like too cheesy food]

Tuna Nicoise (RM12.90) -Tuna, capsicum, onion, olives & house-made anchovy mayonnaise in your choice of fresh baked bread, with a side of fresh garden salad. [The bread is pretty special, unlike the normal 'burger' roti. Everyone kept questioning what kind of house-made sauce it was that matched so nicely with the fresh garden salad, which was also very nice. At that moment, we were nearly prompted to order an additional salah dish(!), ha!]

Carbonara Pasta (RM14.90) - Fettuccine tossed with creamy turkey bacon & mushroom sauce. [This one tasted creamy but I believe it's acceptable to a person who doesn't like too creamy food. If the portion is a bit larger, I think it's a different story then.]

Seafood spicy Olio Pasta (RM19.90) - Spaghetti tossed with herbs, garlic and chillies, served with squid, prawns and mussels. [I didn't expect the price is not ~RM12 but I still ordered as it's my beloved seafood olio spaghetti ! :) Same like the carbonara pasta, if you are a person who likes salty/strong taste food then this may taste a bit plain for you. I liked it anyway. If the portion is bigger then I will be even happier! Ha!]

Crème Brûlée (RM9.90) - A classic French dessert which is simple yet beautiful. [She ordered this, a sweet tooth. Crème Brûlée means 'burnt cream' (see youtube on how to make). We were honoured to have the young pretty lady boss (who is less than 30 yrs old and studied in UK before for four years) carmelizing the sugar in front of us when serving this dessert :)]

Tiramisu (RM9.90) - A moist house-made cake made with mascarpone cheese & espresso infused savioardi fingers. [I told you, see? She has a big sweet tooth, a Tiramisu Queen too. This Tiramisu is another signature desserts here. Both these desserts are only available during weekends.]

Initially we were afraid that we would get this answer,"Sorry, we only serve this during so-and-so hours." Phew~! Luckily there wasn't such rules. We got the chance to order its high tea set even for lunch hour. Yeah!

Classic English Cream Tea (for Two to share) (RM10.90) - A pot of tea of your choice per person, served with four freshly baked English scones, clotted cream & strawberry preserve. [The scones were not hard ("hmm.....soft woh...not bad leh.") and they were really tasty when blended with the clotted cream & strawberry jam.]

One of the tea pots was Earl Grey.

Nice tea set uh?! :)

Click here for Annabelle's Place Afternoon Tea -" The Windsor Tea" (2009).

Address : 10, Lebuh Lembah Permai 4, 11200 Tanjung Bungah, Penang.
Tel: 04-8901098.

They have revised their opening hours.

Opening Hours: Tues- Sat 11.30am-2.30pm, 4.30pm-10.00pm.
Sunday - 9.30a.m-10.00pm.
(Closed on Mondays).

It's not difficult at all to find the place even for a person like me who has not been there for a rather long time. In short, turn into the first junction on your left after driving out from the Vale of Tempe (the so called 'Zhui Tee Lor'). This is a housing area Casa Permai 2. Go straight then you'll find the shop lots on your right.

After the Annabelle's Place, we hopped to the Summer Garden Food & Bistro, which is located further down the main road. We took a glance on the menu and the ambience. They were impressed with its bistro corner.

"OK, we shall be back and dine here next round!" *wink*
