Farewell Meal No.5 : TAO All-You-Can-Eat Ala-Carte Buffet (with hot new menu)

TAO Authentic Asian Cuisine & Lounge @ E-Gate

It's been 3 years since my last visit to Tao @ TAO at Autocity (Part II -food).

A total of 7 pax for my farewell @ TAO this round.

Early Bird Special 5.30pm - 6.30pm (Mon -Fri) 10% Discount - you just have be there before 6.30pm to enjoy this discount!

All-You-Can-Eat Ala-Carte Buffet (from 130 items) Lunch (available from Mon-Fri only) 36++. Dinner 50++

(I17) Sashimi Moriawase. Luckily got Mr.Wet who managed to finish up the squid that none of us likes. :)

(A1) Abalone . I prefer this mild (without too much sauce) one to the one served at Haven Delight @ Times Square.

(H3) Unagi Mushi Tofu . Haha!! No way to order one big piece of grilled eel. You ought to order either this, or unagi temaki below, or unagi that comes with rice.

(D4) Crab meat with Cheese

(J5) Unagi Temaki

(E11) Motoyaki Cheese Mayo . This seems to be less attractive than the ones we ordered from old menu. It's the sauce, perhaps?!.

The papaya salmon in the old menu is no longer available. Argh!
(A2) Maguro Tataki . Hidden below is the smoked tuna.

(E13) Saba Shioyaki . Very rich creamy and slightly salty. (more.....)

Farewell Meal No.4 : Coffee Garden's Ala Carte

Coffee Garden @ Equatorial Hotel.

3M ajak me at the very last minute. Due to another farewell lunch was cancelled, I said YES to this treat.

None of us was hungry enough to go for its buffet. We are all OLD lah. :)

All the below ala-carte dishes were served to us at the same time. That's professional uh?!

Spaghetti Bolognese. Hmm...this one looked good uh?!

Char Hor Fun (with beef). Hmm...this one also looked tempting to me!

Vermicelli Soup. Hmm...this one also ngam me!(more.....)

Farewell Meal No.3 : Sin Hwa Lam Seafood Restaurant

Sin Hwa Lam Seafood Restaurant @ Batu Maung (behind the Little Castle's row, behind OCBC bank)

We placed our orders upfront therefore upon arrival, our dishes were immediately served. All cha bor (ladies) sitting in one round table, hmm.......got very strong kinda 'REUNION' feel !

Batu Maung has never failed to serve fresh stingray. So far I have yet to 'meet' a non-fresh one.
Curry Stingrays with ladyfingers (specially ordered to add MORE).

Herbal Chicken Soup. Served in two big bowls. Hmm..This one is ngam ngam hoe in taste. The chicken retains its tenderness.

Fried Huan Tsu Hiok with sambal (daun ubi). This one is SUPER GOOD! Very young leaves. I think I could have this one alone to go with my rice, ALL by myself! :)

Fried Hae Kor. Too salty to my liking. (more.....)

Farewell Meal No.2 : Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Cake

Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Cake @ Tea time

Belanja by Miss Cheong. A small HEART SHAPE ice cream cake, from BR.

The side wall is nicely decorated with white icing. It's very very sweet that most of us tried to get rid of them as much as possible.

This is the technique lah (see how he holds the lighter upside down) for not burning your finger when trying to light up the candles. *Stupid ladies, all of us* .

They asked me to zha fit. Inside my brain, "Hohoho!! Cham liao them, I will order all CHENG CHENG TEI, VEGE and SOUP dishes!"

Soup of the day (Lao ti mun soup). One serving each.

Braised Beancurd. Homey cook.

Steamed Ang Sai (with sugar cane & black fungus)

I found that this sugar cane + black fungus combination is kinda special thus I ordered it. Hmm..not bad leh!

Jurin Express Bento

Jurin Express Meal

Located next to Sushi King @ Gurney Plaza, New Wing.

Wah, I like this wall displaying all the chinese characters that come with "FISH".

This free flow of Honey Green Tea (hot/cold) is thicker than what we normally have elsewhere.

Tempura Kani
Sushi rolls with crabstick wrapped within. Deep fried with tempura flour.
I was dissatisfied with this dish, mainly due to the tempura coat is not crispy. At one moment I thought I was eating 'dim sum' - siew mai skin?!
Here's the cross section. You can see the crabstick in the middle of the sushi & seaweed is wrapped externally.

Maki/ Sushi Combo.
Beautiful layout of maki and sushi combo.

After having hands-on on how to make sushi (in the previous post), this again becomes an advantage for me to judge how a good sushi should be apart from taste and presentation. Both the maki and sushi are made not firm enough.  (more.....)

Sakae Teppanyaki & Izakaya -Invited Review (Part 2) - Food Review

Sakae Teppanyaki & Izakaya -Invited Review (Part 2) - Food Review

Continue from Part 1 Sakae Izakaya Sushi Making - Learn today!

Sakae Teppanyaki & Izakaya introduced us some dishes from their new menu.

Sushi Platter – Rainbow Maki (RM12.80). Raw salmon, red snapper, broiled prawn, crabmeat salad, avocado & mango. My rating : 9/10 (I always find the raw salmon and avocado make a perfect combination).

Sushi Platter – Fire Dragon Maki (RM13.80). Raw salmon, tempura prawn, salmon roe, shrimp roe, mango & mayonnaise. My rating : 9/10 (Very unique combination, looks posh!)

Sushi Platter – Mango Soft Shell Crab Maki (RM12.80). Soft shell crab, shrimp roe, mango & mayonnaise. My rating : 8/10 (The soft shell crab is a bit overpowered by mango)

Mixed Agemono with Japanese Curry (RM15.80). Fried breaded chicken, salmon, quail egg & Japanese shitake mushroom served with light fragrant home-made Japanese curry.

My rating : 6/10 (The Japanese curry is great if to be served with rice. The fried breaded ingredients turned out to be rather tough though.)

The chef was cooking the Sweet Romance Set.

Cutting the squid, ready to serve!

Teppanyaki squids.(more.....)
